Catherine Cooke, M.A. CCC
Your BestYou...
I am a registered, licensed counsellor with Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association and a Certified Educator for Positive Discipline & Gottman 7 Princples Program (couples work). Prior to earning Masters of Arts in Counselling, I worked up north in remote, 1st Nations communities as an MCFD Child Protection Worker. After having kids, I continued to work in the social/mental health & addictions field. When my kids were in school full time, I returned to school at Gonzaga University, Spokane, Wa., (2006-2008) to obtain a Masters of Arts in Counselling. I am passionate about what I do -- helping and supporting people from all walks of life (including children, teens, adults, families and couples) to achieve their "Best You".
For many issues, counselling need not to be long term.
To become your "best you", I offer a safe, empathetic and respectful environment.
In quoting one of my respected professors, Candace Curry, "you will be in the drivers seat and I ride shot gun" providing guidance, compassion, effective active listening with evidence based research strategies helping you make informed choices.
With positive energy, healthy sense of humour and focus on your well being, I will encourage you to attain your goals.
I regularly attend professional development courses to stay informed and relevant with latest evidence based research methodologies in those disciplines I counsel.
I have expertise in child/youth development, family dynamics, marriage and family counselling & addictions including those affected by FASD/CDBC.
